OK so I'm a college student here and Rent is about $1,247/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Spokane Valley sits at 308.0 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,247 for rent here. The median home value here is around $344,300, which seems about average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'm a real estate agent and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The school system scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Uptown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The nightlife scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 53, moved here 11 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The outdoor recreation situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Springfield area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Chicago it's hit or miss.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
