Life in Spokane as a young professional

Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $326,200 on average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 12 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
