Working in Spokane — salaries realistic?

Alright, I'm retired and Median household income is $65,745, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,141/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 8.4%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 50°F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I've lived in Westside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options
- The traffic scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
