Pros and cons of Spotswood after 11 years

Curious what people think. Household incomes average around $101,388 in Spotswood. Crime rate is something to consider -Spotswood sits at 24.2 per 100K. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Low crime in most areas
- Lots of new development
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited nightlife
- Poor road conditions
- Chain restaurants dominate
What would you do? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much developing but now it's average.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in North area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Miami it's average.

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely solid and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Highland) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The pet-friendliness is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
