Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $86,888, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,656/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Anyone in a similar situation? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 29, moved here 11 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Uptown and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Limited shopping options
3. The housing market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
