Housing in Spring Valley compared to Indianapolis

Hey folks, I'm a college student here and Median household income is $72,364, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $72,364 in Spring Valley. Homes are going for about $407,900 on average. The median home value here is around $407,900, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Not enough green space
Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Seattle about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
