Just moved to Spring Valley from Philadelphia — first impressions
We made the move 4 ago and here are my first impressions:
The downtown area has been revitalized. Rent runs about $1,642/month for a typical apartment. The weather is great — warm most of the year with an average of 67F.
Biggest surprise: The food scene is way better than expected
Biggest disappointment: The winters are rougher than expected
Overall, I plan to stay long-term.

I work in manufacturing and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 2 months.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, there are good opportunities if you network.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is check out the local Facebook groups for neighborhood info. Makes a big difference.

I've lived in Downtown for 6 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Downtown and Maple Heights are perfectly safe.
