How is Spring Valley for outdoor activities?

Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,673 for rent here. Homes are going for about $351,500 on average. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thanks! Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
