Anyone else feel this way? I work in insurance and Rent is about $1,008/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Springdale sits at 222.3 per 100K. With a population of 87,388, Springdale is a smaller city. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The housing market is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Miami about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 4 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Eastside for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The food scene scene is improving
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely pretty good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is solid in most areas.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Springfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
