Is Springfield walkable?

Just moved here 18 months ago and Poverty rate is 11.2%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $65,537 in Springfield. You can expect to pay around $945 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What would you do? Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 8 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
