Moving from Miami to Springfield next month

Hey folks, Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 18.2%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $105,300 on average. The median home value here is around $105,300, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Springfield sits at 784.0 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The job market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in marketing here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
