Planning a move to Springfield -neighborhoods?

Hello, We have two kids and Median household income is $45,883, which feels on the lower side for the area. Poverty rate is 17.3%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $45,883 in Springfield. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I overthinking this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The traffic scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Old Town area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much manageable but now it's underrated.
