Housing in Springfield compared to Tucson

My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $323,800, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,201/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (North) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
