Springfield vs Raleigh -which is better?

Crime rate is something to consider -Springfield sits at 299.5 per 100K. Homes are going for about $323,800 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 61,642 people. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $67,211 in Springfield. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Meadowbrook area are average. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Riverside for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The healthcare scene is improving

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Nashville about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
