Been meaning to ask this. Rent is about $1,107/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $58,741 in Springfield. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
