Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,560/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -St. Augustine sits at 724.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Is this normal for St. Augustine? Appreciate any input. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in construction. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The pet-friendliness scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..
