Hey everyone, I work in real estate and Median household income is $80,473, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. With a population of 14,979, St. Augustine is a small town. The median home value here is around $409,200, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 13 years. Moved from New York for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is decent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Nightlife is limited. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Houston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
