Remote worker thinking about St. Augustine Shores

I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,746 for rent here. Median household income is $72,724, which feels about average for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 6 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The housing market is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Dallas about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Dallas about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..
