Is St. Clair Shores worth it salary-wise?

Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great sushi places. it was the best decision I ever made.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 10 years. Moved from Denver for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is improving - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Road conditions need improvement. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The outdoor recreation is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from LA about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is better than expected.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2016 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much established but now it's solid.
