Hey everyone, I relocated for work and It's a a small town city with about 5,043 people. Homes are going for about $197,600 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for St. Clairsville? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Mexican places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
