Is St. Cloud walkable?

Hello, My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 51, moved here 12 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in West and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Property taxes are high
3. The walkability situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 40, moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in The Heights and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The cost of living situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**

**Final verdict:**

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in East area are pretty good. Kids love it here.
