What's it really like living in St. Gabriel?

Curious what people think. It's a a small town city with about 6,569 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
