So, Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I wrong here? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The school system is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 13 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The weather scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..
