Is St. George walkable?

So, It's a a smaller city city with about 99,184 people. Crime rate is something to consider -St. George sits at 203.0 per 100K. Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Appreciate any input. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Lakewood area are decent. Kids love it here.

Came here for family and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The public transit is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 43, moved here 2 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Pine Hills and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The housing market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is better than expected in most areas.
