Moving to St. George — what should I know?

I got a job offer in St. George, UT and I'm seriously considering the move. I'm coming from a mid-size city. A few questions:

1. Which neighborhoods should I look at for a $1100-1700 budget?
2. How's the commute situation?
3. Is the crime rate accurate for day-to-day life?
4. Any hidden costs I should know about?

Thanks in advance!

Respectfully disagree about the safety concerns. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

Check out the Eastside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

If you can afford it, Old Town is the best place to live. Period.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. University District and Lakewood are perfectly safe.

Coming from Miami, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 2 years and my experience is very similar.
