Quick question about St. George

Anyone else feel this way? With a population of 99,184, St. George is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $72,870 in St. George. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 30, moved here 5 years ago from Boston. I've lived in South and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The walkability situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Highland for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- The cultural scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Nashville it's excellent.
