Commute times in St. James -how bad?

First post here. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 1.3%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -St. James sits at 273.3 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 6,901 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I work in engineering here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is better than expected. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
