Job hunting in St. James -tips?

Curious what people think. I'm a 22-year-old social worker and Homes are going for about $632,900 on average. Median household income is $130,556, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $632,900, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to LA it's decent.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in North for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
