Starting a business in St. John's University?

OK so My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 1,615 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think?

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 14 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The cultural scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Sunset) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
