I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $55,578 in St. Joseph. Crime rate is something to consider -St. Joseph sits at 568.1 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Let me know your thoughts.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much manageable but now it's hit or miss.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like sushi.
