Should I move to St. Louis or stay in Atlanta?

First post here. You can expect to pay around $978 for rent here. Poverty rate is 13.8%, which is around average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Eastside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in North for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The school system scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor recreation is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
