Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $72,056 in St. Marys. The unemployment rate is 1.3%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 5 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to San Francisco it's underrated.
