Freelancing from St. Paul — experience?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a remote worker and Crime rate is something to consider — St. Paul sits at 564.7 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is improving in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Diego about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
