I got a job offer in St. Paul, MN and I'm seriously considering the move. I'm coming from a mid-size city. A few questions:
1. Which neighborhoods should I look at for a $1000-1500 budget?
2. How's the commute situation?
3. Is the crime as bad as the stats suggest?
4. Any hidden costs I should know about?

If you can afford it, Southside is the best place to live. Period.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Downtown. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.
