St. Paul vs Tucson — which is better?

Hey folks, I work in engineering and Rent is about $1,248/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $280,300 on average. With a population of 308K, St. Paul is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider — St. Paul sits at 564.7 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Has anyone dealt with this? Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 10 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
