Hey everyone, Born and raised here. Median household income is $98,670, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $2,118/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 1.0%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 47, moved here 3 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Westside and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Property taxes are high
3. The school system situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for remote workers. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 1 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
