Alright, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $238,700, which is actually reasonable. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? Thanks! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Bought a house here in 2015 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Seattle it's solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..
