So, It's a a smaller city city with about 58,200 people. Crime rate is something to consider -St. Peters sits at 240.9 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Should I be concerned? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Westside area are underrated. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much competitive but now it's tough.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 40, moved here 8 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Springfield and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Close to major attractions
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The outdoor recreation situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 33, moved here 1 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The pet-friendliness situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 15 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in Highland for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- The traffic scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely better than expected and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Uptown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 2 years. Moved from Austin for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is tough - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Dating scene is rough. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been here 5 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..
