With a population of 58,200, St. Peters is a smaller city. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Downtown area are average. Kids love it here.

Came here for school and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The housing market is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Highland for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- The food scene scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in West for 12 years. Moved from Portland for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Not very walkable outside downtown. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Meadowbrook. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
