Just moved here 17 months ago and The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Should I be concerned?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 15 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for school and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor recreation is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been here 6 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Westside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 29, moved here 10 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Sunset and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The nightlife situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been here 14 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into running, this place is average.

I've lived in Midtown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The walkability scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..
