Is public transit usable in St. Petersburg?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $73,118 in St. Petersburg. You can expect to pay around $1,542 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What are your go-to spots? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Portland about 8 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
