Hey, You can expect to pay around $2,207 for rent here. Median household income is $107,474, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider — Stamford sits at 202.0 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely pretty good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Midtown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The cultural scene is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
