OK so My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $2,207 for rent here. Average temperature is around 54°F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 136K, Stamford is a mid-size city. The median home value here is around $614,300, which is pretty steep. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What do you all think? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 1 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.
