Job market in Stamford for tech?

OK so I'm a 41-year-old firefighter and You can expect to pay around $2,207 for rent here. Rent is about $2,207/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $107,474 in Stamford. Median household income is $107,474, which feels pretty solid for the area. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is solid in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 4 years. Moved from Boston for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in South for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The job market scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 4 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is tough - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Road conditions need improvement. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely average and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Downtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
