OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 42, moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Riverside and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The walkability situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The traffic is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely better than expected and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Westside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- The nightlife scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is challenging in most areas.
