Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,142/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,142 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Houston it's pretty good.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely decent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Springfield area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..
