Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm originally from Houston and Household incomes average around $81,455 in Stanton. The median home value here is around $541,000, which is pretty steep. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? Thanks in advance! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 15 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Miami about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
