Best kept secrets of Stanwood, WA

Hey everyone, Born and raised here. It's a a small town city with about 8,351 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Appreciate any input. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Moved here from Boston about 5 years ago. I have mixed feelings honestly. Still getting used to community vibe but Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Charlotte about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
