Best kept secrets of State College, PA

First post here. I'm a 35-year-old real estate agent and The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $414,400 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Any help is appreciated. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..
