Rent in State College getting crazy

Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $414,400, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -State College sits at 92.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 5.2%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Riverside for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- The weather scene is average

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
